As this month of gratitude begins, I have so much to be thankful for within the “walls” of our Her Nexx Chapter organization. It’s never easy when the time comes to transition from doing something that you love yet you know it’s time to let go of it. That time came for me when I felt a shift in my role as Editor-in-Chief. And I am grateful to say that I followed the leading to invite Melissa Duban, a highly-experienced editorial volunteer, to assume the role of Editor. Melissa has gladly embraced this responsibility, and she will be working with the Editorial team, while I will be shifting to a different editorial role – that of Editor for a wellness book we are writing. More on that to come…
I’d like to express my deep gratitude to all of the writers I’ve had the privilege to work alongside as Editor-in-Chief these last almost 8 years – there are 144 of you! What an honor to read your work, help fine tune it when needed and keep your voice, then see it published to our community of readers. It’s been such a delight to see how you have shared your lives and life stories within your blogs. I’m also grateful for the 5 young ladies who were college students and chose to do internships with Her Nexx Chapter, allowing me the honor to work with them as they developed and honed their writing and editing skills. I couldn’t be more excited to see what your futures hold!
Serving as Editor-in-Chief also meant that I had the distinct pleasure to work with our stellar Marketing team who produces amazing content for HNC on a regular basis. In the early days, I called them the “Marketing Mavens” and then when there were just three on the team “A Triple Treat.” The team has multiplied, and to see how they have each grown and excelled at their craft has been most gratifying!
Throughout these last 8 years, HNC has hosted a number of virtual events which has allowed me the privilege to meet and support the writing of life coaches, entrepreneurs, educators, medical professionals, authors, a vegan chef and a film producer, working along with the HNC Production team. With expertise from women in all these areas, I continue to be grateful for the many lessons learned as well as those I have the opportunity yet to learn.
That’s what’s exciting about being a part of this organization, women have so many opportunities to learn. When one of my writers decided she wanted to learn more about social media, I was happy to let her move into a Marketing role. Lady Chap, our illustrious Founder and Chief Vision Officer has called HNC a volunteers’ playground, and it’s allowed many to serve in a department or area they know and are familiar with, and then perhaps explore another role or department. Volunteers will find their sweet spot and enjoy doing what speaks to their heart.
Currently speaking to my heart is a wellness book that we have been working on, which will feature writings from many of our bloggers throughout the years. We look forward to being able to share this with you, our readers, who have been supporting the vision of Her Nexx Chapter since its inception.
So as we welcome a new Editor to the team, it’s a perfect opportunity for me to say thank you to those who’ve been a part of my journey with Her Nexx Chapter. Cheers to what’s ahead!

The Future of Connection for Women

I’m a Co-founder and Editor-in-Chief for Her Nexx Chapter. I’m a seasoned editor who loves to wordsmith. I also enjoy making connections and helping women find their happy place. Serving with Her Nexx Chapter allows me ample opportunities to do just that! On my off hours, I enjoy traveling, experiencing new cultures, cuisine and music; I particularly love listening to jazz and bluegrass. I’m originally from Chicago but now call Dallas home, though I do regularly crave that mouth-watering, deep-dish pizza from the Windy City. I also like comedy of all sorts, especially when it’s my actor/comedian husband on stage. Together we founded a comedy company and encouraged a number of new comics to step out of their comfort zone and make their debut.
