Enjoy some delicious pizza! February 9th is National Pizza Day. Pizza is considered the most popular food in America. In fact, it’s considered the second most popular fast food besides hamburgers!


Here are some facts about pizza:

  • Almost 3 billion pizzas are sold in the US each year.

  • Pepperoni is the most popular pizza topping.

  • The first pizzeria in the United States opened in 1895 in New York City.

  • 22% of all Americans say they can eat an entire pizza by themselves.

  • The most popular pizza toppings are Pepperoni, Meat Lovers, Supreme, and Veggie.


So, how to celebrate National Pizza Day:

  • Pizza Hut celebrates National Pizza Day so drop by your local Pizza Hut and see if they are celebrating.

  • Try a different type of pizza like deep dish Chicago-style.

  • Explore some different toppings on your pizza.

  • Have some appetizers with your pizza, like salads and breadsticks.

  • Try your hand at making a homemade pizza.

  • If you prefer thick crust, order a pizza with thin crust.

  • Papa John’s is said to celebrate this day, so head over there for today.

Hello, my name is Meagan. I am currently a senior at Belhaven University. I am majoring in Theatre and minoring in Creative Writing. I am happy to join Her Nexx Chapter as a volunteer. This journey will allow me to work with a diverse group of women. My academic journey is rooted in storytelling.
