Strengthening Families and Building Empowered Communities - Meet Tara Davis

Updated: 23 hours ago

Tara Davis started life after college, married to her sweetheart, detoured through a divorce, and reunited with her sweetheart right after the divorce to build not one but two successful and impactful companies alongside him.

Having gone through a divorce, she and her husband realized their experience equipped them to help other couples navigate issues in their married lives. The husband-wife duo began helping couples in their church deal with crises, facing divorce, and building a better life. This led Tara to launch The Haven Marriage Center, where, as Director, she leads programs focused on strengthening marriages, families, and communities.

Tara’s husband has an extensive career in the construction industry. Together with her husband, Tara launched the Para Consulting Services (PCS), LLC, a certified woman and minority-owned firm providing construction management, quality assurance, and staff augmentation for public infrastructure projects across Texas.

It took a lot of hard work on their young marriage to find the right balance between juggling their companies, married life, and shifting their home from Alabama to Florida. Tara is proud of how they overcame struggles and everything life threw at them to build a successful company in The Haven and PCS.

Amidst her busy schedule, Tara finds true satisfaction from doing hands-on volunteer work. She visits the food pantry in her locality to serve people. The pantry is set up as a grocery store where people can fill a cart with their necessities. Tara enjoys helping people find items and loading the groceries into their cars.

How does she recharge herself? Tara goes to her parents’ house in Alabama once every three months or so by herself. She doesn’t go as a wife, a mother, or a CEO, but as a daughter visiting her parents and just being present with them under their roof.

She believes she can do all the things that she wants to do in life, her dreams and ambitions, but not at the same time. Her experiences in life have taught her to pace herself and focus on getting to each goal, one at a time.

A note to her younger self would be to have more patience and trust the process. The path that she is on will lead her exactly where she wants to be and to enjoy the moment and the ride. She would tell her younger self not to fear or worry about the future.

In conclusion, Tara would like to tell women out there that it’s ok not to be ok. But if you’re not ok, get a support system. Get a community of other women to support you in the area of your life where you’re not ok. Find those people who are not just in your circle but seek out others relevant to the current season of your life.

Tara will draw on her experience as she shares the stage with her friend Suzzen Stroman for a breakout session on Friday, August 29, Navigating Work-Relationship Balance. Join her and other women leaders in Dallas, Texas August 29-30 for Inspire Her Nexx Chapter, a transformative women’s conference. We intend to speak to women’s spirits, cultivate their souls and pamper their hearts in a space where diversity and differences are seen as strengths and where women can actively participate.

I am creative and I thrive on the energy I get from making words and images speak a cohesive message. I love building new and meaningful relationships while going the extra mile to maintain old and precious ones. Every new person I meet, I look for something to learn and imbibe into my life. A postgraduate in Public Relations (PR), I have worked in PR agencies, in a marketing communications role with a mid-sized Indian company, and as an internal communications and change management consultant in a multinational organization. A mother to a caring and amiable girl, I love baking, alone time during the day, writing, and admiring nature’s beauty.
