Seize the Day and Celebrate Your Wins on National Take a Chance Day

Two people high-five joyfully in an office, with a yellow vase in the background and a laptop on the table. One person wears glasses, smiling.

April 23 is National Take a Chance Day. What are the odds? I believe this day offers a chance to celebrate in a couple of ways.

First, take the time to celebrate all the wins in your life, no matter how big or small. Give yourself a pat on the back for your achievements. Don’t understate any decision or accomplishment in your life.

Second, try new things and step out of your comfort zone. As you expand your comfort bubble and embrace change, you’ll find yourself becoming more confident.

There’s often fear associated with the unknown when we take a chance, as there’s a genuine possibility of failure. However, living life avoiding worst case scenarios can fill us up with regret in the future. Life is most worth living when we have something to look forward to. When we push ourselves to do things we have never done, we can see our true potential.

Maybe you’re juggling multiple jobs to provide for your family, or you’ve learned another language or picked up a new hobby. Perhaps you travelled somewhere new, relocated, or changed careers. These are big decisions. Remember all the chances you’ve taken! Look forward to all the opportunities you can take advantage of.

I’ll leave you with this quote:

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. —T.S. Eliot
