National Day on Writing and the Methods of Putting Pen to Paper

On this day, we celebrate the National Day on Writing. Why we write, what we write, when we write and how we write can all be linked to the hashtag for this day: #WhyIWrite. But let’s explore the different methods we use to write whether it’s creative or technical writing.
Nowadays, we have been using technology as a replacement for writing when we are doing paperwork. Furthermore, students have been using their tablets or smartphones for their homework assignments. Is it just me who’s noticed that writing itself is barely existent anymore because of technology?
While we use technology as a replacement in order to save the trees, there are times that physical writing is good for us too. National Day on Writing promotes creativity and crafting of words, thereby boosting inspiration. Writing also teaches you to improve penmanship, especially cursive writing for your signature.
Back in the day, we used to write physically for homework and to do paperwork. Handwriting is a good exercise for your hands and your eyes, unlike writing on a computer, phone, or tablet.
As an alternative, you can even do calligraphy or traditional drawing and painting if you are an artist. Writing demonstrates creativity and gives motivation for your hands. Furthermore, it shows real craftsmanship to rely on your imagination in contrast to simply using digital technology. Lastly, it helps improve one’s physical literacy.
