Let's watch some Bollywood movies!


World Bollywood Day is September 24th, and it is a great day to watch Bollywood movies. Bollywood refers to India’s Hindi-language film industry, and it has been around since the 1900s. “Bombay” and “Hollywood”, thus Bollywood, is known for its long dances, singing, emotional appeal and its relation to Indian popular culture.


Here are some facts about World Bollywood Day:

  • Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan and Kriti Sanon are famous Bollywood stars.

  • Bollywood got its name in the 1970s

  • 3 billion people watch Bollywood films.

  • Bollywood is based in Mumbai.

  • The first Bollywood film was Raja Harishchandra.


Here are some things you can do on this day:

  • Watch famous Bollywood films such as Pyaasa, Mother India, Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Amar Akbar Anthony.

  • Try on some traditional Indian clothing.

  • Play a Bollywood film just for the music.

Hello, my name is Meagan. I am currently a senior at Belhaven University. I am majoring in Theatre and minoring in Creative Writing. I am happy to join Her Nexx Chapter as a volunteer. This journey will allow me to work with a diverse group of women. My academic journey is rooted in storytelling.
