Hug Holiday was last Sunday, June 29, 2025, and hugging represents many forms of love.
Here are some “huggy” facts about this day:
Hugs are said to release oxytocin.
An American author established the hug holiday in 2006 to promote the benefits of physical affection of hugging.
People around the world recognize and even celebrate the holiday.
In 2010, health professionals began promoting the hug holiday as they advocate the mental, emotional and physical benefits of hugs.
In 2020, due to social distancing because of the Covid-19 pandemic, virtual hugs were invented.
Ways to celebrate this Hug Holiday:
Hug a friend.
Schedule a hug and hug someone in need.
Hug (with permission) a person or a pet.
Send a virtual hug.
