National Waffle Day is Sunday, August 24th, and it is a day to celebrate how this breakfast item came to be! The first known recipe for waffles was found in a manuscript, Le Ménagier de Paris.

Cupcakes were a delight to women who were tired of making large cakes for small celebrations, such as a child’s birthday. Baking a small cake in a ramekin was more economical for many families.
