I started to read memoirs, interested in the stories that shaped someone's life. I needed to hear about other people’s hardships to know that I would get through my own loss and anger.

Losing my mom was the hardest thing I have been through, and I still struggle with her absence every single day. Now, whenever I visit Santa Cruz, it is the only place I go to talk to her.

Giving back looks different for every individual, but I encourage you to look beyond yourself today and challenge yourself to be better. I also want to remind you that it is okay to let go.
